National Vision has announced the opening of applications for its 2025–2026 National Vision Scholarship Program, inviting optometry students to share their perspectives on how emerging technologies are transforming the field of eye care.
This year’s theme, “Emerging Technology in Optometry,” encourages third- and fourth-year optometry students enrolled in accredited programs across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada to express their ideas through a 500-word essayor a short video (maximum length: 5 minutes) exploring the future of technology in vision care.
Scholarship Awards
- $7,500 – First Place
- $2,500 – Runner-Up
- $2,500 – Runner-Up
The program invites students to reflect on how innovative tools — such as portable diagnostic devices, vision-screening apps, and smart eyewear — can make vision care more accessible, accurate, and affordable for underserved communities.
“Emerging technologies are reshaping what’s possible in optometry,” National Vision stated in its announcement. “These breakthroughs can revolutionize early detection, expand access in hard-to-reach areas, and improve care delivery — but only if they are applied thoughtfully and equitably.”
Participants are encouraged to share their insights on how National Vision and the broader optometric community can adopt and integrate new technologies to enhance care delivery and expand access for diverse populations.
