The FDA favorably reviewed plans for a phase 3 trial of urcosimod, which is being investigated for the treatment of neuropathic corneal pain, according to a press release from Okyo Pharma.
The feedback came during a meeting between Okyo Pharma and the FDA, paving the way for a pivotal trial in a disease that currently has no specifically approved treatments.
“Neuropathic corneal pain remains one of the most challenging and underserved conditions in eye care, with patients often living with persistent pain,” Robert J. Dempsey, CEO of Okyo Pharma, told Healio.
